I have a strange issue with the brake lights staying on some times. I figured it was the switch so I changed that but it still does it intermittently. I don't see any return spring on the pedal, is there supposed to be one? There doesn't appear to be anyway to adjust it so I'm stumped. I don't see how the pedal just resting on the switch actually presses it because trying to press the switch out of the car takes a lot of force. I can also pull the pedal up and there is some room so it's not like the pedal is all the way up and the MC shaft is forced against the switch. You guys got any ideas. Pissing me off because it will turn the lights on when I'm not there, car is just sitting.

ITS the pedal switch
Check that you have it mounted correct,, upside down maybe or bushing on wrong side?

I had kind of the same problem, thought I didn't have any brake lights, changed the switch twice and tested all the wiring still no change. Turned out the the part of the pedal linkage that rests on the switch was worn down so much that I had to fabricate a shim to make it work.

There is an adjustment on your switch, here's how it works: http://forums.stangnet.com/757121-brake-light-switch.html

You can twist the switch around a little. Mine would do this every now and then if I bumped it while under the dash. Just a thought.
