Ok, just one more thing, today... The gage inside the car only reads half full when full. So its either a pessimist or the sending unit?? The fellow I got car from had installed a new tank and sending unit. Im wondering if its the sending unit?? anyway to check this? or pull it and see. Thanks Mike, just looking for a direction to start from.

start by grounding the sending unit wire and see what the gauge does. if it reads full, then its the sending unit, if not its the gauge, or the IVR.

I have heard of people having to slightly bend the arm on the float to get their gauge to read correctly.

Hi and thanks to all, I got a long wire stretched from gage wire in back, switched on the car and grounded wire. Gage went to F real quick and in a hurry. So then I drained tank, took a little impromptue bath in gasoline, its such a wonderful skin and hair conditioner, then removed the sending unit. I bent the arm downward, info I obtained here and thank you very much. Put all back together and filled her up. Works as it should now. I thank you one and all for the help. Just as a side note my wife to be is begining to love the smell of gas and oil. The only problem is its cutting down on the candle light dinners since I can no longer be around open flames. I told her you dont wash off gas, or 90w trans oil, they wear off.
Thanks again, Mike

I maybe should, She calls me a few other names from time to time. I have found it is generally to my benefit to just answer in the affirmative more often than not. Pick your battles, but not your nose. The smell of hi octane fuel is like an aphrodesiac... num num num
