Here is a page of my car , I had to repair my drip rails on the car . They are a integral piece of the roof structure and if not repaired , the roof seam between the drip and the roof frame would have to be welded and smoothed . It has been done on other mustangs , the shaved drip rail that is .
Best to get a donor roof piece to fix the drips by grafting them in . Florida Mustang (I believe it's
www.floridamustang.com ) has a reproduction drip rail but it's not perfect from what someone on VMF said and does not curve/ has to be bent if you need a corner .
My car is easier to repair the drips since I have the roof shell off . I imagine your roof shell is still on so the pieces will have to be scabbed into the assembly . If you cut the drips off , the entire seam will have to be welded shut , not simply fill it with filler .
The drip rails and the roof shell spot weld together to attach the roof shell to the roof frame . Without the drips , the only attach points is the front and rear windshields + the handful of spot welds along the quarter panel seam .
