hey y'all, got a problem here. i have owned my car for 4 years and have always thought it was a 66. but i ripped out the trunk liner and found a whole bunch of paperwork referring to it as a 65.my vin is 6t07c156221. i also found out the driver door was replaced in an accident. help me im lost

According to your VIN it's a 1966, 2 door hardtop, 289 2v v8, and produced in Metuchen, NJ. At least that's what I get from http://www.mustangdecoder.com/decoder.html

but i wastold that on thesecars the vin was on the drivers door

yes on the drivers door there is a tag. there is also a tag on the pass. side top of the engine area on the body. thats not the vin but,,still a tag

the VIN stamped into the inner fender should be correct, on some cars you have to loosen the fender bolts and slide the fender out to see it.

PS. I just looked at my 65 and it's about 8 inches in front of the shock tower on the drivers side stamped into the inner fender. It also has a screwon tag on the passengers side, but I wouldn't trust that.
