4.10s and a hypertech use with caution

well the car revs a whole lot faster with those 4.10s and im assuming the hypertech eliminated the factory rev limiter. i was playing earlier and looked down from my 1 - 2 shift and it was sitting on 6500. it was there for a split second. i know i probably didnt hurt anything but it would make me feel better if you guys agreed with me. there arent any strange knocks or pings and its not smoking. ive never reved it that high and didnt mean to.

nothin to worry about?

You did no harm, 6500 isn't high. Just way out of the powerband of a bolt on car.

The bottom end could probably handle a little more, though I wouldn't want to be the one to test it. You probably floated your valves a little on that one, but you should be alright.

Yeah the bottom end wll be fine, 6500 is just tickling it lol. The valve springs though did NOT like that. But you have afr 185's listed in your up comming mods so it doesn't matter.

your almost exactly like i was with my probe... after i ut in the KLZE and a new clutch annd a light weight fly wheel... i also decided to gutt the back end out of it... SOOOOOO the car reved quick as hell... a civic came up along side of me and started to rev... i revved back civic went hard as did i i didnt reallize how quick first went by and i was sitting on 7700 rpms.... shifted to second and torque steered almost in to the median.... well at least i smoked the civic.... lol.... The klze floats valves past 7000 RPMS so i was in the DANGER ZONE!

It will just pump up the lifters and might run rough for a while

besides

If you were looking at a stock tach ............

Most likely was not 6500

Why did you take the rpm limiter off? If anything, I would just raise it if need be.

It's there for a reason.

Just a tid bit of info

If you be a stick GT kinda guy
and
gotta good bit of miles on the clock

The tired valve springs will limit things before the pcm

btw ... the auto Stangs have a good bit lower limit

I've hit 7k a couple of times, compliments of Paul, but I have new springs and rockers. You should be fine as long as you don't get on it ALL the time.

Get a shift light and ignore the stock tach...Here is a vid of my tach.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZFJXeGVCmkA0
My light is set at 5800RPM. Just to give you a clue how far off the stock tachs are they read pretty slow....

BTW I wouldn't write off your rev limiter not being turned on still. I've spun the needle on my tach well off the red zone...

They are way off I hit 7k~ every shift (on that video) but the light comes on @ 5800 per the ECM signal. I didn't do it in the video but I've done it while on the autox course. I've spun the tach all the way past the 7k mark it was pointed at 6 oclock almost. First time I did that I thought I didn't have a limiter either...(but my car does)

If you get the "raptor shift light" it is as simple as 1 wire for tach, 1 power, 1 ground. Pretty easy that is what I have.

my probe was like 700 - 800 RPM off on the stock tach... just throw in an automeeter... best mod to my driving ever... hit shifts dead on... track times got quicker
