i was playing around the other day with my new 410s and i glanced at the tach as i was shifting.....6200. that made me nervous. im assuming that i didnt hurt it and that i wouldnt hurt it if i done it again but i just dont like it. i dont like going over 5800 ( i know...im over-cautious, right? ).

dumb question here: does a 95 have a factory rev limiter in it? if so, where is it because i didnt hit it. im wondering if that hypertech chip eliminated it?

where can i buy a rev limiter? how much? will it work with stock ignition ( aftermarket cap/rotor, 9mm wires, maybe msd coil ) ? part number or link would be great

thanks guys

The stock rev limiter should be at 6250 RPM. It is possible that the Hypertech chip eliminated it, or that the factory tach is off quite a ways in your car if you're going by it for your reading. The only aftermarket ignition I can think of off hand that comes with a rev limiter is something like the MSD 6AL.

do you have to buy the whole 6AL or is there just a limiter than you can get?

6250....depending on how off my tach is, i was just under the limiter. so is it "safe" to rev one to 6200?

As far as I've read on here and experienced myself, there is no factory limiter on the SN-95. One point that hasn't been mentioned though is that with a stock intake and stock heads, reving past about 5300 is really not gaining you anything.

There is a factory set rev limiter. Is set to 6250 but it just cuts the fuel to the engine. This is a bad way to limit revs as it causes a lean condition and will destroy engine parts over time. The MSD unit randomly cuts spark to cylinders to control revs. It's the way Ford should've done it. Always make sure to set the rev limit below the factory setting.

Here is what I know if it helps.............I know that my friend has one on his LT1 94 Z....and he did raise the limiter.............I ordered the hypertech "module" as they call it.......I don't know why but they did not have a "programmer" as some of the other units are called and the person I was ordering from stated you could change or eliminate the rev limiter.....
It was on back order and I was told it did not change shift points in the trans so I cancelled the order...................and went with a SCT chip.....
