66 - 289 - Best way to seat rings after rebuild?

My father and I just finally completed my motor rebuild (stock 289) and was wondering what ya'll suggested as a the best way to seat the rings???

that depends on the type of ring you are using. with chrome rings you want to put about 500 miles on the engine before running it hard. with moly faced rings you can run them hard pretty much after you have broken in the cam, and changed the oil, though i prefer to put about 100 miles and a second oil change on the engine before i run it hard.

go on the fwy, slowly drive from 50 to 80 and decellerate from 80 to 50 about 20 times an you will seat your rings.

Ideally your rings should have come with break-in instructions. If not, it will depend on the type of rings. Regular iron rings will probably be broken in before you even leave the driveway.
