Rebuilt my control valve (thanks to stangerssite.com! Great kit. ) and still have the 6 cyl linkage. This is the centerlink that has the seperate bracket bolted to it that holds the control valve. The control valve sleeve threads onto this short bracket.
Need the spec from the shop manual for the measurement that determines how far to screw the sleeve onto the bracket, and what two points are measured. If anyone can come up with that I would greatly appreciate it. (and I could get this back together...!)

Control Valve

It is kinda tricky.

You line up the rollpin hole on the extension with the slot in the ball stud sleeve.
There rae two holes on the end of the centerlink where the extension bolts on. You measure from the CENTERLINE of the hole closest to the valve, to the CENTERLINE of the upright ball stud. The measurement is supposed to be 4 1/8" to 4 3/16".

Now, you will soon find out that the planes of these two points are not paralel, so the measurement is at an angle. What I measure is CL of the ball stud to the CL on the hole as best you can. Usually, the extension only has a thread or two showing on it after the extension is threaded in position.

This measurement is just to get the overall effective length of the drag link close enough to match the steering geometry that the factory wanted.

Awsome! THanks! I looked through the shop manual at work, but could only find he non bolt on bracket measurement.
WHere did you find that spec?
Oh, the centerline of the ballstud will be the grease fitting on the bottom. No problemo. I was taking some measuerments this way and just needed the spec. 4 1/8 will line up perfectly. And like you said, I can already see that there will only be a few threads left on the bracket.
