I want to carpet the trunk of my 66 fastback restomod.
Nothing fancy just want it to look clean.
I really do not want to glue the carpet down for obvious reasons.
Any suggestions/pics..

Try getting some from Kragen's.They now carry a small roll for about 15 bucks and its a nylon blend that doesnt fade and its pretty flexible, or you could go to a upholstery place and see what they have.I used black tweed covered panels in mine.
I just saw on Ebay a company that was selling a kit that does the whole trunk! But it was out of my price range! But it was the a complete carpet setup, then I started to redo my trunk in my Fastback, so back on ebay I went! Now I cant find it. So, keep an eye out on Ebay , you might see it!
Did my own custom trunk carpeting using marine grade carpeting from Lowe’s, 1/8” ABS sheet plastic from a local distributor, 3/8” double foil insulation, a linoleum knife (Jigsaw will work too), a heat gun, and some 3M High 90 spray adhesive (Total cost was under $100.00, with the biggest expense being the carpeting).
I started by making patterns using masking paper, and then transferred them to cardboard so I could tape pieces together to get correct folds and angles. Then I transferred the cardboard templates to the ABS, cut the ABS and folded/bent it using the edge of my workbench, clamps, a long strait edge and a heat gun. Once I had the panels trimmed up and fitting nicely, all I had to do was glue the carpeting to the top and the insulation on the backsides.
The resulting panels are simply pressed into the trunk area and can be removed if needed. Insulation and carpeting was glued to side walls of rear quarters however.
You can use "project board" (foam sandwiched between poster board) - it cuts easily and is CHEAP for templates (or a trunk that won't see use), and either ABS like strokie, or 1/8" plywood for the finished product. I made panels for the taillight covers, fuel filler, and the sides of the trapdoor.
I left the floor countoured, and trimmed/notched the carpet to fit smoothly. I did add an extension to the passenger side to entend the floor all the way to the 1/4 panel.
Those are a couple of clean-looking installs. I'm working on a similar project in a '67 convertible right now. I've made a flat floor all the way across though, so I have a hollow compartment between the new floor and the fuel cell in which to stash the ECU and the EFI aux. fuse panel. I'm going to carpet the whole thing in the charcoal carpet that car audio guys use for everything and make a hatch in it to access the compartment below. There will be fuel filler and taillight panel covers like those seen above.
FYI, I was told by Ron Bartlett (owner of Mustangs Plus) that they were going to be making a carpet kit for trunks and will be selling it thru their store. He told me that it would be about 6 months or so before they came out. I would guess it will be 6-12 months away unless Ron is really fast with mass producing that kit. But he has never failed to impress me before so I'm not sure why I doubt him now?
