66 hood ornament?

I recently bought a 66 coupe. The car has a running horse emblem on the hood. I have looked through literally hundreds of pictures and haven't seen any other mustangs with the ornament. Does any one know how rare this is, and why haven't i seen any other mustangs with the hood ornament?

Nothing to do with FoMoCo. Strictly from places like JC Whitney back in the day. Remember, until the Mustang came along, Most cars had a hood ornament. Some folks missed them.

I had forgotten about the hood ornaments, I don't believe I ever saw one on a Mustang though.
