66 Rebuild Questions

i have a 66 coupe with 289 my dad gave me the day I was born. After 42 years in the Army he has a few problems and getting old is one of them. I want to rebuild this asap and take him for a ride in it. I have a paint and body guy Helping me and he says it's in awesome condition. I am working on a few things like spark plugs and wires maybe new belts and checking carb but need to know of any other ideas to look at. Already has new gas tank lines and new brakes and lines.

So many questions...
Do I remove smog pump and parts or leave it alone and clean it up/repaint and such?
Anyone have original color info for the engine and components?
Anyone have any info on putting a double reservoir brake master cylinder on this car?
Anyone have any info on putting an electric ignition on here?
And many more

If you remove the smog system hang on to all ov the parts
66 block ,valve covers and air cleaner should be dark ford blue.
Double bowl mastercylinder should be done ,you will have to change a couple of brake lines but it is simple.
A lot of guys like pertronix ignition,i like Malory unilite,it is simple distributpr swap an well worth it.
