67/68 Hood Prop Rod

I don't understand why you actually need one. My car has springs on the hinges of the hood and stays up fine. Can't you just replace those if they are not working? I love the fact that my hood doesn't need a rod to hold it up, I hate working on my other cars in and around the engine compartment with prop rods.

Thanks guys...just thought someone may have found one that worked well as far as screwing the bracket in and a good rod length. I'll do some experimenting and see what works best, there is a huge pick-a-part right down the road.

BTW, I have a fiberglass hood and want to alleviate any tension on it at all (don't even want the low tension springs).

Thanks!

Just a guess, but looking at his avatar makes me think it is a fiberglass hod that is in question. They usually need to have the springs removed or weakened to avoid distorting or cracking the hood.
