i am in the process of repairing the upper cowl on my 65 fastback(finished lower)
my upper cowl is so corroded around the end that it makes fabricated a real pain. does anyone know if the 67-68 upper replacement cowl is the same around the perimeter as the 65-66. it seems logical since lower cowl ends are for all the years. i know the grills are different?is anyone making a replacement yet for 65-66. thanks in advance

The 67-68 engine compartment is wider so I doubt it will work. If it did, I'm sure they would have marketed it as 65-68. Then again, there may be some minor cosmetic difference in the spacing of the openings or something. I would call NPD and ask them.

do a search on either uneedapart.com, or usedpartcentral.com... i found the complete upper and lower section for mine in a bone yard in california, and the best part is, i had 3 different ones to choose from in less that 2 days time.you may have to buy the whole section, as i did, but at least you can cut it apart, and use what you need.

PWM -- I purchased a used upper cowl (after installing new lower cowl ends) from Oklahoma Used Mustang Parts. They torched me out the entire lower, upper, dash and half the A-pillars and firewall and sent the thing in one large box. The worse part was having to split the upper and lower AGAIN with spot weld cutters....what 185 spotwelds???? Ouch, but it was the right thing to do....a real clean upper cowl.....wondering if they torched a real nice car!!!

the car mine came out of was rearended...i drilled out the spotwelds down the sides, and across the windshield bed... the firewall i left the new piece long, (below the pinch weld) and cut the car just below the pinch weld. drill holes in the firewall of the car, plug weld, dress the welds, seamseal, and you have a repair that looks correct down to the factory spotwelds across the firewall

And it'll probably fit like crap the way everything else does. I guess it's better than nothing but it seems like with a little more effort they could make these parts fit right.

You should get on the phone right now and tell China they need to do a better job at fitting our mustang panels!
