I have a fastback that I am converting to a shelby clone. Got the tail panel with the open cut outs and plan to use the mustang project tail lights. Whats the best way to attach this panel to the existing tail panel? It has some tabs at the bottom, but it looks like it needs to be spaced out from the original panel. Any ideas? thx..

The fiberglass panel screws or rivets to the metal Mustang taillight. The Cougar taillights bolt to the Shelby panel , then the whole assembly is bolted as a unit through sheetmetal boxes that go in the openings you need to cut out of the metal panel. Let me know if you need some spefic pics, I have a bunch of pics I took of mine.

Thanks zookeeper. Are you talking about the panel that has the open cut outs or the one that has the boxes for the tail lights? I am going to use the mustang project tail lights and don't think they will fit the way you describe. Any pics you have might help me figure this out. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Mustang project taillights, but if you're building a '67 clone you need to use the open panel, the '68 has the buckets molded into the panel and uses '65 T-bird lenses and trim. I'll dig the pics out tomorrow and post them up for you.
