Im trying to buy a 67 mustang and I can't tell if its a real Shelby or a clone. I can't tell if it has a Shelby vin there is something there but can't make it out.
Hi, you can usually look UNDER the fender at the Ford VIN from the bottom side, and possibly scrap off some paint/undercoating, to read the VIN without damaging the visible paint on top of the VIN. However, a 67 Shelby Mustang should have a Shelby VIN, different from the Ford one, stamped to a plate which came riveted over top of the Ford VIN.

Additionally, if it seems you actually found a Shelby, contact the Shelby American Auto Club (SAAC) 1967 Registrar as he can confirm the authenticity of your newly discovered car: http://www.saac.com/contact_us.html
