X-mas morning I had to drive out to my mothers boyfriends house and I came across a Gran Torino station wagon. I asked about the engine and he told me it was a 400. He told me I could have the engine if I could get rid of the car. Any suggestions on what I should sell this engine for. I believe its also an automatic. Worth salvaging?? Same with the rear. Anyone interested in any of the above write me an email @ RazedCreed@netscape.net. Thanks, Razed

It's worth salvaging, for sure. I'm not sure how much you could get for the engine, but you see them on ebay from time to time. If you could get more details on the car and engine I might be intrested.

What year is the Torino?
The 400 cid is not liked much by a hot rodder, not much for it in the aftermarket world, low compresion, like to over heat, hard to keep good oil pressure, had bad oiling system, yatty, yatty,ya,ect.I had one in my ol' '79 F100 pick up.It shares some stuff from the 351 cleveland, but stuff for this engine is hard to get aswell.

These engines have got no high performance potential what so ever. Find someone with an old Ford Pick-up, or......an old Torino station wagon. Otherwise, it's good for nothing more than white trash yard decoration.
