ok fellas, heres my trouble... in short the car starts up nicely runs smooth with a little low idle lope (modded cam) problem i got is when i drop it in drive ro reverse i gotta have left foot on brake and right feathering the gas to keep her running.
Now the long of it. Engine is a 5.0 explorer engine with gt40 p heads. 4bbl period fomoco intake with b-303 cam, carb is holley 600. dizzy has pertronix i with flamethrower coil (wired switched 12v).
i was running a 4100 autolite carb thought that could be my problem. so i sold that and went to the holley 600, im sure i got all my vacuum line double checked, im starting to wonder about the stock torque converter being compliant with my cam. timing is set at 10 btdc with vacuum line plugged. the car will start with the slightest bump of the key. and rev from idle to 4000 rpm without a stutter. but like i say drop her in drive and she darn nears dies even with the idle set at 900rpm. i would like to hear any ideas or experiences with higher stall converters if this worked for you or not. thanks
