68 Lower Control Arm Bushings?

1. Hi All,
   A while ago, I had some new bushings pressed into my OEM lower control arms. After 11K-ish miles the arms have moved forward, towards the front of the car, on the bushings.There are no "locating" shoulders on the bushings to "register" them in a centered position in the arms. Pretty p_ss poor design! Any way, my question is about my plan to:
   >Pull the arms off the car
   >Center the bushings in the arms
   > Tack weld the bushings to keep everything in place
   Anyone see any issue with this plan/thinking?

tacking them in place is a common thing to do , do not get them to hot
or it will burn the rubber or polly. origional have four small swedge
marks in the ends to keep them from moving ,but not all of the origionals
are that way
