68 Mustang Control Valve Install?

I installed my control valve, but realized I don't have it screwed all the way in. I read in my manual it should be 4-7/8 from zert fitting to center connection member. Mines more like 5-1/2. will this affect anything? The only thing I can think of.... that would be effected is a loss of turning radius? Will this effect the way it feels how it steers?

yeah you are going to want it the proper length or you will have more turn radius in one direction and not enough in the other and it will throw off the centering in the steering box

im not so worried about the turning radius being messed up. (I have none with wide tires) However i'm worried about what you said centering in the box... How does this feel?
