68 Power steering pressure hose routeing problems

My 68 coupe had never had a new power steering pressure or return hose on it since it was new. I replaced the hoses a year ago and now the pressure hose has rubbed on the exhaust manifold where the exhaust pipe and the manifold join. The hose I used looks exactely like the old one. I can't seem to route it far enough away from the manifold to keep this from happening. If someone knows what I can do, I would appreciate the input. By the way it is a 302, with AC.

Do you have the bracket on the drivers side shock tower that the hose routes through? If not, you will need to purchase one. Get back to us.

On my 68 I have had good luck by using the 2 piece high pressure line that is sold to fit the 1969 mustang. Then the hose runs down to a clamp that they used in 69-70 that bolts to the bottom of the shock tower in the area where the lower A arm fastens close to the adjustable eccentric @ the lower A arm etc. My 68 originally kept the high pressure line above the exhaust manifold and it took alot more heat. Try to find a 69 model and copy it, you'll see what I mean.

Yes I do and I realized what I did wrong the first time. The original hose had no restricter, and the new one did. I saw in a magazine that the resticter was made on the hose to keep it from moving in the rubber in the bracket. I replaced the hose again and did it right this time. This time the hose is away from the manifolld like it should be. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the idea. I may try that the next time, sounds like a good idea. I finally figured out what I had done wrong. The new line had a restricter and I did not have it where the hose could not slip back toward the back. Thanks for your input.
