when i put in 6 qts like the manual says i only get 1/2 up the dipstick. should i add in another quart till it is all the way at the top. or leave it in the middle with 6 qts.

leave it at 6, when you drain it, how long do you keep the drainplug off? stupid question but when you let a car drain for a few hours you get an extra few pints out.

The dipsticks are marked wrong. Midway between the two marks is full; don't add any more. You will find instructions to that effect in your Owners Manual.

There is a Tech Service Bulletin on this. You can find it over at the Mach1registry site.

click on Tech discussion forum for the TSB list.

If your car ever burns up then now you can blame it on ford! Because they marked the dipsticks wrong....if your car is still under warranty = new motor

My car calls for 6 quarts but I end up having to add about a half quart after about a thousand miles because the 'LOW OIL" light comes on. It reads about halfway up the stick but I just add a 1/4 to 1/2 anyway. This is on my 96...

As long as you are in the cross hatches, you are fine.
