71-73 rear discs...any ideas?

I'm tryin to think of a rear disc set up for a 71-73 9" rear end. Now I've got access to a Granada possibly w/ 4 wheel discs, power steering, etc that I can get for a couple hundred...if the guy will let it go for that I'm gonna get it take the brakes, 9" rear, and steering stuff and haul the rest off. Would that work? I also heard somethin of a mounting thing to put 65-67 front disc caliper and rotor on the back of a 69-70 which would be the same as my set up. Any thoughts or anyone done this. Because well...I'm all about budget and I dont like the idea of buying a kit or anything so if I can do it cheap and get my stuff at O'Reilly for part of it that'd be super.

I've heard that rebuilding/replacing Versailles/Granada/Monarch rear disc parts can get expensive, so do your research first. Instead, I put in a good word for the Ultrastang Lincoln Mark VII conversion... www.ultrastang.com ... its the one I decided to go with. Parts are readily available and relatively cheap, especially compared to the Versailles/Granada/Monarch rear disc parts. As I recall, these are the same brakes that Ford Motorsports used to sell as their SVO rear kit. I also know from talking to SSBC reps that its also essentially the same as SSBC's most basic kit (caipers specifically). In either case, that is a good indication of the capability of these brakes. I haven't gotten to installing mine yet, but maybe in March...

damn, DB beat me too it again. if you can the granada for a couple bens, and it has the disk brake rear it is still worth looking into even you decide not to use the rear, you could pretty much double your money fairly quickly, i've heard of people paying 700 bucks for those, i got mine for 300 and everyone i've talked too since then has said i got a really good deal, even came out of a running car, so all i need is to put the $12.00 caliper kits in it and i'm set, the rotors are in decent shape too. but if yours needs rotors they are about 100 bucks a pop, and if the calipers aren't rebuildable they are around the same price, but even so the rear is worth a lot of money to some people, hell i have even heard of people starting to restore the versailles' that most of these rears were robbed out of paying big bucks to get them back now.

Well everything works on that car right now...the guy drives it actually...its just he wants extra for the 302 in it and I havent a real use for another 302 at the time.

if he drives and the rear is in decent shape i'd still say get it and sell the rear if you decide not to use it, hell you could probably get enough just for the rear end to get your money back and still have enough left to get the ultrastang brackets and the rest of the parts to finish the job, plus you can ususally get a couple hundred or so for the front brakes as well, if the rear does not turn out be the disc brake rear i'd pass on it though.

71-73 rear discs...any ideas?
