'71 dash lights

Recently tried swapping out the stock bulbs with a couple of LED's. the ones in right now are so dim that its' difficult to read the fuel gauge and speedo at night.

bought some that should have work, installed them and no dice. has anyone had any luck with this process, or has some bulbs they recommend?

remove the bulbs, rotate 180 degress, re-install...........

okay i tried the ol' 180 one em, they didn't work on either direction.
i think im just gonna order that kit and call it good. now it's a matter of finding oil, voltmeter, engine temp lights. atm they have no light at all.
