Somewhere
My mechanic did my 410 gear install last Friday and he has a Shelby Cobra GT500 and I had no idea what he had done to it, so he told me and I was like......HOLY CRAP!!! Kenny Bell twin screw, long tubes, and the list goes on and on and on, as I'm sure you all know that car comes stock with like 500HP and with all he has done, the car now has somewhere in the vicinity of 770HP.

So anyway I stopped in to see him this Tuesday and we were talking about his car and he said he would bring it to work Friday and if I wanted to stop by he would take me for a ride.....skip to Friday, I got there yesterday about 4pm we chatted for a few minutes and he said, you wanna take a ride? I said uh YEA!!! LOL so he grabs his keys and we start out the door and he throws me the keys and said you're driving, I was like, NO WAY!!!! he said uh yes you are!!

So I started his car and I may have peed myself a little :rlaugh: This car is LOUUUUUUD and sounds awesome, its a 6 speed manual, so I eased out of the parking spot and proceeded to get on the road, I took off fairly easy and once we were going 40 mph or so I gave it about 3/4 throttle in 2nd gear, tires spun had to feather the throttle pretty bigtime, the pull was so unreal I cant even begin to describe it, hit 3rd and the pull was unreal, hit 4th, the pull was still unbelievable, I had the hardest time getting the car into 5th tho, when I first took off and shifted into second I was expecting the throw to be longer, I was amazed how short the throw is in the GT500.

Man that car was ridiculously fast and the torque was out of this world, my first drive in an over 700HP Stang and it is something I'll never forget, the worst thing about this whole deal is, after I drove his car I had to get in my 330HP Stang :rlaugh:

I thought my car was pretty quick, after driving his, mine felt like a backhoe LOL

I just wanted to share this experience with you all, it was totally killer!!

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Does sound like a great drive but my question is the same as prae 21, do you like your 4.10's? I have 3.73's in mine and I think thats about perfect, a daily driven car with 4.10s might be too much, input??

Sounds like an awesome time! BTW How do you like the new 410 gears? Did you get it tuned as well?
Yes I had it tuned before the gears and I had Bama update my 93 Race tune for the 410's

To answer prae's and TorchRedS197's questions,

Let me start by saying this, the only real thing I was concerned with was the RPMs with the 410's.....

With the stock 331 gears, at 60mph I was turning 1900 RPMs (my car is a 5 speed automatic with stock 17's) now with the 410's at 60 MPH I'm turning 2300 RPMs, only a 400 RPM increase, which IMO is nothing, I keep forgetting to see what the revs are at 70 MPH, I'm gonna guess and say like 2500, I actually get about 1 or 2 mpgs better gas mileage then I did with the 331's (local driving) not sure about highway mpgs yet, I have not been on the highway since the gear install, personally I'm not concerned with MPG as my car is not a DD.

I personally think 410's are perfect, 373's probably would not have been enough for me, I would have gone with 410's even if it were my DD car. With these gears and the 93 Race tune, launching without spinning my tires at WOT, the car spins the tires into second gear and chirps hard into third and barks into fourth gear.

Launching the car by flooring it from a dead stop, smokes the tires all the way thru 2nd gear and the tires still spin some in third. Its pretty wicked now, I would def say go with 410's in you plan on staying N/A, 373's are wicked I'm sure, but 410's are just insane!!

I hope this helped :nice:

Best of luck, and if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask :)

Just can't say enough about 4.10s.... had them on my DD for 2 years, 2001 GT, loved every second of it... bonus for me was at 70MPH it took the car out of the Flowmaster American Thunder drone rpm range somewhat so I didn't have to crank the Mach 460 to 11 to drown it out. :)
