I am debating on what to do I have a 86 gt the runs mid 12's and i think is pushing about 380hp. Now I am concedering of getting rid of that and getting a 03-04 cobra but I know that this car is bad but I am running natural aspirated and I am close to the same power but my car needs some work like paint and interior and suspension and i would like to get a blower. So i am wondering if it would be easier to just spend the money and get all the stuff done on the 86 or pay the money get the cobra and do some mods nothing really crazy though. But if i got the cobra the gt has to go so what do you guys think would be easier and best drivabilty cause the transmission i have in the gt is a comp c4 with 355 in the rear which is ok for the street but not that great. thanks

Get the Cobra, unless you have some sort of great emotional attachment to the 86. The Cobra will be awesome for years to come w/ less work needed. ...not to mention Terminators rock ass.

I know I was just looking at some things you can do to the cobra to increase hp 5.0 magizine spent 1,200 dollars on a stock cobra and got exhaust and a new pulley with a new k/n filter and it increased the car by 88hp at the wheel and 121 L/b of torque thats insane. Car was running 11.5 at 118 mph bascially stock.

Cobra, no doubt!

The only "bad thing" is having a liability of a payment for one.

You'll miss the look of the 86 and you'll likely just plain miss the 86 eventually, but I tell ya.... sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have a car that requires little or not wrenching... what it's like to have a cup holder so I don't spill coffee in my lap.... what it's like to have a nice quiet interior... LOL. If you're already leaning in the direction of the 04 and have the means.... GO FOR IT!

Edit: Awww Hell.. What's this thread doing in the TECH Forum????? This is not a technical issue.

I too have an 86 GT and I am definately attached to it...I have considered getting rid of it several times ( just got it out of storage after 5 years!!!) but I just know I would eventually kick my own ass for doing it! Another huge factor to consider is that your 86 GT is never going to be worth nearly what you have put in it....So, why dont you keep it and get the Cobra as well...my $.02....

I'm with him.. He's right... the trade in value will likely suck so you might as well find it a storage place then go get your Cobra. In a few more years, who knows.... our cars may worth more money.

I agree with Daggar. I had a friend that traded his lightning and his 96 Cobra in on a terminator. He cant leave it alone any more than the other cars. Yea it makes more power, but anyone can bolt on obscene power with the cobra. The 86 takes some knowledge and patience. In the end the 86 would probably be more rewarding. Besides, I love seeing a well built fox break off a new Cobra.

I also like having a car that does not take constant wrenching. So I have my F150, which except for the lift, is stock.

At this point, I would stay with the 86, unless I had enough money to by the Cobra and mod it. I don't have that much, nor do I see it coming soon.
