Thought I would share my 4 cylinder progress, it has been tagged with the name "The Beast". I am taking the 86 model 4 cyl notch and the 85 which was nailed in the rear and making one car. I am gonna keep costs as low as possile using as many junkyard parts as possible. In the end I hope to end up with a sweet black 86 notch with a black interior, I have some leather seats from a 98 model GT to go in it, most of the interior is at the upholstery shop getting recovered, the rest of it I am gonna dye with SEM spray.

Anyone thinking about the 4 cyl conversion, I would definitely suggest finding a donor car :)

No it's not bad looking at all, it has a straight rust free body, it's def been used though!I was going to paint it red, but the price on the paint was wayyyyyy to much for me!

That is a nice car to start with. That is a big plus. An even bigger plus is having a donor car. That is how I did mine. It is very hard to peice things together.

Good work so far. Good choice on black too. Red is waaay higher priced paint than black, so keeping it red would have ate a lot of money from the budget.

Keep us posted man!!

I will keep it updated, hoping to get the rear end installed this week, paint the lower side with some chassis paint. Won't take too long to have everything under the hood finished up and running

You're right about that. Chassis paint FTW!! POR 15 of the Chassis Saver. I suggest brushing it. I sprayed my undercarraige, and what a sticky mess that stuff is. It sticks to everything around it, it doesn't come off your skin, and it stuck to my frickin contacts!!! Of all the paint I have sprayed, nothing has stuck to my contacts. I mean, I could NOT see after. From then on, I brushed it on. It dries smooth like you sprayed it. Your undercarragie is so clean, you could eat off of it.

You should take the T-Top stuff out of the hatch car and convert the notch to t-tops. Shouldn't be too hard considering you have it all. The t-top brace just rivets into place. That would be freaking awesome.

I had thought about it, but tooooooo much work for what I am shooting for, I'll prob just sell the t-tops when I part out what I can from the donor car.

A t-top notch would be sweet though!

im guessing your goin EFI? lookin at the pics it looks like theres a edelbrock carb on one top of that motor. still got it an wanna part with it? good luck with the swap it looks good an let us know how it goes.

While the ttops would be cool in a notch, it would be way too much work. That would't be ready for the summer if you took that route. Get the motor in and running, then paint it and you'll have a nice cruiser soon. Keep at it man!!

:p i could sure use it. my uncle has my old capri an the holley on it is GARBAGE! since i got my edelbrock ive been a big fan. easy to tune. good drivability and im gettin good gas milage for a carb'd car. again good luck with the project an keep us updated!

Is that POR 15 you used on the chassis?Looks GREAT.

the user name is awesome, reminds me of the chapelle show! :rlaugh:

The paint is actually nason, by Dupont, it's called chassis black, It comes in a gallon can, pour it straight into the gun and spray. I paid $40.00 for a gallon of it. It's some good stuff for the money :nice:

The Chapelle show was the best show ever on tv.......sucks he lost his mind.I am gonna look into that paint for my 90 notch, thanks.I am also considering going retro and putting a 85-86 nose on it,four eyed notches are the only thing nicer than a 87-93 notch.:flag:
