I recently purchased a SSBC Front Short Stop Slotted Rotor Upgrade Kit.

With this kit I am supposed to be able to use stock hardware to be able to install. I was able to remove of rotors and pads, pulled bearings, repacked and put into the new rotors. I purchased two new inner bearing seals for the rotors which seem to a bit big. I tried Motorcraft seals and Pep Boys seals and they all look just a bit bigger than the rotor. I thought I might have been doing something wrong so I went to the local brake shop and they confirmed that it is too large for the rotor.

Has anyone else experienced this? I was thinking about putting the seals in the freeze to try to shrink them a bit but not sure that it will be enough to contract the metal.

Any other ideas? I am going to give SSBC a call tomorrow to talk to their tech support.

the problem is with the part store parts you got. try ones for a 4cyl car and they should fit. had the same problem with my moms 86 vert.

SSBC should be able to give you a bearing/seal number to cross reference.

86 brakes are the same as 4-banger 87-93 brakes. They have 10" rotors.

So you would need to specify the seals are for the 10" rotor and not the 11" rotor.

Also, is this kit for 87-93's? Do you have a link for it?
