86mph in a 45mph

hi this morning i was doing 86 mph in a 45mph zone i was pissed and took it out on my car. yes i know im a dumb ass. how big of a ticket is this and how long would i get my license taken away for? and as for lawyers i am 16 im not sure anyone can do much for me as a defendent

you should probably look into it with your local court system. all depends on where/when+ how nice the judge wants to be. most likely gonna hear some ***** on this one.

Around here, thats a misdemeanor. Had a friend get caught in similar circumstances on a sports bike. He spent a weekend in jail to avoid fines. He needed a lawyer just to get that.

Like already mentioned, each state is different.

6 years ago I got a ticket for 98 in a 50 in Georgia.

I had to pay a total of $650 and lost my license for 6 months. Worst 6 months of my life

Get lawyer, worst case you'll pay $500 or better to him and get out with ass if your lucky. Hope its a lesson to ya, don't mean to be rude...well yea I do. But on the other hand when you do the time for the crime invest in a really good radar detector, providing there leagal in your state at least you'll have a heads up. Mine is a 12b band and can pick up as far as 2miles. But good luck to ya and let us know what happens

and of course my ultimate moron moment....

reckless driving.

get a lawyer. you'll come out WAY better than if you don't.

First off that was dumb, you not only put yourself in danger but others as well. Get a lawyer and be prepared for a ton of fines and losing your license.

Ouch... yep not a smart move... 2 weeks after I bought my Mustang I raced a Celica like a dumbass and was clocked at 75 in a 35 zone. The speeding ticket was $250 (ND FTMFW) and the racing ticket was $300 and I had to make a court appearance.

Worst of it was I obviously beat the Celica, but the cop pulled me over and couldn't pull him over. Good news was the cop must have radioed another cop because when I was let go I saw that Celica pulled over on another street.

Sucks to be you. I got clocked at 105 in a 55 one time in Ga. A speeding ticket and reckless driving ticket later got a lawyer and got the reckless dropped to "too fast for conditions" and paid the tickets, lawyer, and Defensive driving course. I've grown up since then too, although I've made some more stupid decisions since then I've learned from them as well.

Go here and you can see point systems per state, it varies:

DMV Point System - Guide to DMV Points & Suspensions - DMV Guide

Where I live (SC), that would be a six-point ticket. Once you get six points, the state sends you a letter saying be cool. At 12 points, you get suspended for three months. However, you do have the option here (once every two years) to take a defensive driving course to remove four points.

In a tougher state like NY, that's an 11 point ticket, and at 11 points in that state you usually get suspended for 30 days.

Don't waste your time or money on a lawyer. You can get the same outcome if you just go up there and actually be sorry and request a lesser charge. Lawyers are no more powerful than you. You can ask for forgiveness just like he can. Lawyers are a huge waste of money. Also radar detectors really don't work. They only work when you have some retard cop who drives around with his radar on all the time. Your average cop leaves it off till they see someone speeding and then they turn it on. Radar detectors were the best thing ever in the 80's but now your speed is on their radar display before your detector even goes off.

Beg to differ importkiller, your detector will alert you around curves and and hills, atleast mine does. Also all my speeding tickets were either DROPPED or got down to LESSER charge like "improper equipment, etc." and didn't affect my insurance when I hired my lawyers, but the ones I tried to go take care of myself had to pay the rediculous fine, cost, and went on my insurance for 3yrs. Even pleading guilty plus seeing the DA before court started

Maybe in your area a lawyer is the way to go. But in mine lawyers are a huge waste unless your talking big time charges. And yes if the officer is hitting a car ahead of you with his radar then the scattered waves can absolutely set off your detector. However, if your the only one coming or nobody in front of you tempted the officer then your screwed. Radars help but are nowhere even close to perfect. Trust me when I say that the radar is faster than the detector

Maybe. However I have seen that a quality radar detector that I use now is much better than the lesser ones out there. I know that it won't prevent tickets as there is only 1 cure for that and its not speeding, but it warns me much further and can even pick up when cops are over hills.

BTW I am using an Escort 8500 X50
