I am looking to put a Saleen kit on my car, but I see that there are two different kits offered. What exactly are the differences in the stock Mustang from 87-89 vs 90-93? I know that they did something different in the fenderwells to accept the 16" wheels in 90, but I thought that was just a different inner plastic lining? Wouldn't the Saleen kit for 90-93 also fit the earlier aero cars? My eye can't make out any discernable difference. Thanks.

you cant tell at a glance, but they are different.

mine has both on it, which is why the driver side always rubbed....stooopid whoever fixed it

see if you can tell.....first one is bigger. The "flare" is like 0.75" bigger and it is about 0.75" further off the ground.

Basically on the newer fenders....the front lip pretty much matches the back

Thanks for the replies. Great pic, Strype! That was just what I needed to visualize the difference. This also explains why my 17"'s rub a tiny bit on my 89 GT (just at full lock). Judging from these pics, the earlier Saleen kit would fit on the later cars, with some massaging, but not vice-versa. I really want to do the original Saleen kit, not the Cervinis', and I can only locate the 90-93 version. Oh well, I have it on good information that Saleen will be offering a lot of their old Fox body parts again! yeah!

Yeah the later pic is of 91-93, it's swept further out to allow for 17's that came on the 93 cobra but mainly for the addition of 16" ponies in 91

I used the 90-93 front Saleen lip on my 88 gt. all i did was not use the LX fender extensions @ the front of the wheel where the lip wraps around and it fit fine.
