I'm having a tough time figuring this out. It started out where I could barley notice it (a slight bump/thump) while driving 20-35mph coasting in traffic. A couple of weeks ago I was hauling A and all of a sudden there was traffic and I had lock em up. The next time I drove it and ever since (5-6wks) its been thumping (trans/rear). I replaced all the bearings in the differential (chipped tooth on the pinion) and the gears 3.73 with new axle bearings but the thump is still there? Looking for advise.

Best suggestion I have,is put the car up on jack stands-all 4 wheels off the ground and inspect all the mounts, bushings, end links,u joints, etc. If you don't see anything worn/broken or damaged-start it up and put it in gear (with all 4 wheels off the ground, securely on stands/lift.) and watch the drive line for shimmying/thumping.
Also-Welcome to Stangnet :)

Thanks for the welcome. I did all that you suggested this week with nothing more able and the thump was not appearent on the stands In gear. Feels like a bearing but the occurrence seems faster than a wheel rotation as well.

Sorry for not reporting back. All mounts replaced prior to this entry. Still thumping, I purchased a 5spd. conversion and I believe the AOD is the issue. I will repost once I've swapped it out.

Now that’s how you fix a car! My 302 was burning a lot of oil so I put a 351 in it! Ahaha! You and I are kindred spirits my friend!
