Has anyone replaced the power top pump? I just bought my '88 GT vert a few weeks ago. The previous owner had the pump replaced, but never added the fluid. What's the best way to go about adding the fluid? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Also - the passenger side rear quarter window is way out of adjustment...any tips on adjusting that window would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

aarrgghh, welcome to the world of vert quirks. we vert guys usually all pile onto threads like this, all wanting to know....
for the pump, i think there is a rubber plug on it that you fill it with. i could be totally wrong (probably am) - i was lookin at one at the J/Y trying to figure it out.

i dont know about the 1/4 window - at least yours work! im gonna convert mine to manual since the motors cost an arm and a leg.

where in AZ are you?

good luck and bump.

Yeah, I saw the rubber plug and it looked like it might be for filling it up... I guess I'll pull it and give it a try. Hoping to find someway to hook up a tube through a funnel so I don't make too much of a mess!

Have you checked ebay or www.50resto.com for the motors? You can get good used ones for around $25 on ebay and new ones for $80 at www.50resto.com. I just ordered a new busing kit for a motor today instead of buying a new one. It costs $7, but we'll see how it goes...

I'm in Apache Junction right now, moving to Queen Creek at the end of summer...Just went out to the car show tonight on Power and US60 - there was an absolutely beautiful '87 hatchback with supercharger...it was awesome!

thanks for the info. i was hoping to find a fellow fox'er in tucson - only a couple of SN95'ers in here, from here, that i know of.

where did you get the bushing? before i go mechanical, i was gonna take the motors apart and check the brushes and so on. but im not holding my breath. im just not willing to spend much on those windows.

and please check on that filler - that was merely a guess by me. i have no idea if im right or not (probably the latter).
good luck and take care.

I got the bushing set on ebay:

But of course the motor must be operating for this repair to work...

cool, thank you for the linkie.
i figure if i get the motors to work, i will renew the ancillary stuff, which bushings are one of. always interested in where to get stuff.
good luck and thanks again. :nice:
