At least I believe its an ignition issue. Recently I went about putting new valve seals in my E7s. After putting everything back together, I had installed the distributor incorrectly and the car ran like absolute crap, or shall I say barely ran at all as all I got was backfires when trying to crank it. After installing it correctly, setting timing, fuel pressure and TPS voltage just to make sure it seems to run ok, runs alot LOUDER for some reason. Idle RPM seems fine but not perfect at 1100 rpms. Timing at 12 degrees and FP at 39 pounds.
The real issue is, when I try to start the car, I hear a mechanical pinging as the motor turns over and eventually starts. Not the normal noise a starter would make. I took it up and down the street, ran through 1st through third WOT, experienced no issues whatsoever. Other than that, the car runs EXTREMELY rich, black smoke coming out at idle and rev. I know I have no cats, but it wasn't anywhere near this before I tore it down for the valve seals. Any advice is appreciated.
