88 Mustang problem, help please

Put a test light across the coil's electrical terminals and see if the test light flashes while cranking. If not, check for accessory 12 volts to the coil.

Do jric's check list step by step and make sure your comp ground has not come loose had a simalar prob, on my car drove me nuts but the check list really helped

Thank you everyone for the input, got the car running yesterday. Put a coil on it and finally got spark. but it still wouldn't start w/ the key, brand new ignition switch from ford i figured i just got a junk part, not like thats uncommon, but ended up finding one of the terminals on the connector was spread apart just a little too much, tightened it up, works great. THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE INPUT!
