The 88 notch I recently got is not charging, has the stock alternator and I don't have any wiring diagrams for it what wore on the back do I check to see if I have battery voltage to so I know if the alternator is just no good or if it's something else? Also I noticed the dash is pretty much dead, the tach doesn't work at all anymore.
It used to atleast show me idle but when it was reved it jumped from 3kto straight pas 7k almost straight down. None of the other guages work, infact they don't move at all it's like they are glued in position lol. Also none of the warning lights come on when the key is turned to the on position. No battery indicator or anything. The only thing that lights up even dimly even if the lights aren't on is the turn signals, the both come on solid just Very dim even with the headlights in the off position. When that happens the parking lights also light up.
This was originally a 88 4cyl car but it was put together from a 92 convertible gt. Motor trans rear and every wire under good and inside car was from that, they did however retain the 88 steering coloum and wheel I don't know of that could have anything to do with it. The previous owner does not know what year the cluster is from but be said it all used to work minus the tach. But now they don't move at all. He wired up a cheap subprime volt guage so it shows it's not charging and I know it's not since eventually it kills the battery.
Could anyone give me any ideas where to go with all of this? Not sure if it's related to each other or not. I got it real cheap but it was someone's unfinished headache.
