Alright first of I'm new on here so hello everybody. I am working on getting a 89 out of a barn and somewhere I can work on it a little better. It's my ol ladies dads mustang that he picked up wrecked and stuck in the barn for a donor car. It's been in the barn for a year or so and he's had it running and everything since he got it.
He told me he got in it one day to crank her up and he got no response from the starter at all. He figured the starter was shot and didn't fool with it anymore after that.
I recently replaced the starter, got no crank, no clicks, nothing. Pulled out my volt meter and checked the starter solenoid and wasn't getting but about .74 volts to the starter side and .05 to the ignition. Battery side was 11.89 or so. I replaced the solenoid thinking that had to be it. Turned the key, nada. Went and bought a new ignition switch Thursday, put it in there thinking that had to be why I wasn't getting anything to the starter or ignition post on the solenoid. Nope. Still scratching my head and searching the Internet for possible quick fixes.
I'm new to mustangs as this is the first one I've tinkered with. Always had a GM since I was able to drive until my Mazda with a 2.3 ford motor. I'm looking for any help you guys can lend, I know I need to check the clutch saftey switch but I'm wondering if I could just get rid of it altogether for the simple fact that I don't want to replace it if that's not the problem.
I appreciate any help in advance.
