I have a pretty stock 89. I have noticed when I let off the gas there is a 1-2 second delay till the engine starts to reduce rpm. So I am starting to think it might be reducing my response with acceleration!

I have zero idle issues. TPS Sesnor?

I do have a MSD 6A box and coil.

This just seems odd to me. Seems to of developed over the last few months.

Any ideas?

Is the car a manual or automatic? Have you checked to make sure the throttle blade isn't sticking or the cable is hanging up?

All the EFI fox 5.0 Mustangs have a built in dashpot feature in the computer. When you let off the gas to slow down, the computer adds a small amount of air via the IAB to prevent stalling when you come to a stop.

Run the codes. If there isn't a code...don't worry about it
