90k mile Fox as a Daily Driver?

As mentioned above these cars are very reliable if taken car of. I have every confidence that I could put either of my two Fox cars back in service as daily drivers without any worries. In fact it would be fun and they actually get decent fuel mileage if driven accordingly.
I bought my red '88vert new and my wife drove it as a dd for until 1991. We retired it from dd duties with 95k miles on it. In those first 3 yrs it never let her down. Now it has 130K on it. I have since restored and modded it but the engine and tranny are still internally stock and run flawless.
Beleive it or not, the original clutch is still in it. LOL

I've had my car for almost 10 years and have put over 22K on it....has never left me stranded, even with numerous significant modifications.

I was looking at LS1's back in 2002 when I graduated, even though I was a Ford guy. The LS1's were the best bang for the buck, but as soon as I looked under the hood, I said screw that. I went with the easy-to-work-on stang and never looked back.

My current daily is a 176,000 mile mostly stock LX, never gives me any issues. Its got snow tires on it and its a tank in the snow. My previous daily was a 130,000 mile 5 speed LX and was solid as a rock. I also dailied my 89 GT that had 181,000 on it and beat the hell out of it through highschool and college and took it off the road at 246,000 because I got a SHO taurus. These cars make great daily drivers. Leave it in OD, My current car shifts into od at around 45 anyway.

The things that go bad on AODs are the OD bands; the factory valving lets it slip too much...if you feel froggy enough to rebuild it [edit: or you're that concerned] with good parts just for GP or at the very least you can J-mod it and put on a good external cooler, you likely won't ever have a problem from it. The AODs used to catch a lot of hell, but parts are better and available to make it every bit as reliable as an old C4 or the revered GM TH350.

If you're looking to play with it a little though (and we all know you will...you'd only be kidding yourself to say no), 23-2500 stall and 3.73-4.10s and you'd have a car that's loads of fun to drive, very quick around town, and plenty reliable.

Word-keep us posted, and read up on here should you decide to purchase it...there are a bunch of very knowledgeable folks on here; as with any forum you sometimes have to sift through some bs. I'm sure I don't have to tell you the following for Fox Mustangs is pretty big, and the knowledge base for them is equally large. Regardless of your intentions with the car, pretty much anything you wanna know about it and how to fix restore or modify it is on here.

your worried about 90K? I have 222K on mine and still drive it everyday.

My DD will turn 200k on my way home today . Fox has 90k. I'd DD my fox in a heartbeat. 90k? She's barely broken in!

197k, all original, and DD it everyday!

i love lt/ls motors, but 5.0's are way easier and affordable to work on/trick out. plus after about 135k miles on an ls1 lifters start sticking, oil starts burning, engine accessories start going out, etc.. theyre great cars (ls1's), but you cant beat a 90k mustang for $2900.. id say go for it and dont regret it. My 88 is a DD and as long as you keep your foot outta the ground youll get decent gas mileage too. just take car of her and she'll take car of you!!! post pics if you end up getting it.
