I bought a clean low mile(just under 100k) 91 lx

it has 2 blown shocks 3 60 series tires and 1 50 series tire,i know i know..........instead of the ac delete subframes and buckets i should have got kyb's and sum 45 or 50 series tires.

the dam thing feels like a boat floating everywhere.

would kyb shocks good tires and springs make this car feel good on the corners?

my old 83gt had subframes/cheap monroe shocks/88 gt swaybars with energy bushings/96gt LCA's with energy bushings and cheap 50 series tires...thats not much suspension work but dam,i remember that car felt good, you know fun to drive,my vert on the other hand is not fun! i want to know how mush good tires and shocks made a diffrence in your vert?????? what do you have now and how do you like it?

If you have subframes then you're already taken the first step...

Mismatched tires will make any car handle poorly no matter how good the suspension... they can make the handling so unpredictable as to be a safety hazard... I'd replace those ASAP. What size wheels are on the car now?

Secondly the blown shocks aren't helping anything... I'd get some decent aftermarket struts and shocks on there and you should see a big improvement.

Definitely getting new struts/shocks will fix the problem...

Im not a fan of KYB, i had them and didn't like them but to each his own

I run Koni adjustable yellows up front and Koni adjustable reds out back, with 1 1/2" lowering springs, the car rides 10x better than with the Kyb's and corners unbelievable, i definitely recommend koni if you want to spend a bit more money

For safety sakes, replace the shock and match the tires

I put four new KYB springs, gas shocks (GR2), 245/50-16 Toyo Proxess FZ4 (Pony wheels) and long weld-on subs frame connectors on my 89 5.0 LX Convert and the car handles awesome. I wish I could tighten up the PS now that everything else is so tight. It also make a dramatic difference when driving with the throttle and rear end. I can now fishtail the backend out earlier and with much more confidence now that it doesn't snap back folloed by the car rocking when I had the soft suspension. It also makes highway driving rock solid at 80+ with absolutely no drifting and "Towncar" bouncing that Foxe are known for.

All your kind words make me feel alot better my new vert. Now it has 3 16 in cobra r's and 1 16inch pony wheel(at least there all grey haha.I have a set of decent 5 star chrome 17inchers but there 5 lugg.I didnt take into account when i did the 5 lugg conv. I would have to get new pads (or might as well while its apart right?) front and rear, plus even with cheap junkyard ranger axles i have to do the bearings on those so while in in there might as well rebuild the posi and do the 373 i want, problem is i dont have the cash all at once to do all that, even if i did then i gotta get tires,so i guess sell the 17's for 200 get some $550 a set 4 lugg cobras then save for tires? Im lost....

Match the tires up and replace the shocks and struts. Go right through every thing, ball joints, tie rod ends, ect....

That should help make it alot more stable.

Yes. Get four matches shocks/struts. Get a good set of matching tires. I would even replace the inner and out tie rods and the steering shaft. Get an alignment and you will be golden.

I had to replace this stuff on my 53K 96 Cobra already. You wouldn't believe the difference!!!! It is like new again!

just to clarify, the rears are matched up right? as in they are both 60 series?
Cause you will play hell on the rear diff with two different sized tires.
cuz one asxle will likely be turning at a different ration than the other unless the 50 series tire is wider than the 60 which would add some height to the 50 series to equal out the ratios
