Does anybody have in their possession or know where to easily get a computer for a 1993 2.3 N/A LX with an A4LD Tranny? Or any computer that would do the trick.

You see, my transmission won't shift into 4th gear, and I was about to get a $1000 job to get it fixed, but some earlier trouble a mechanic had when my car broke made me think.

He spent about 3 days trying to diagnose it, to find out it was a dead crank sensor. The problem he had with diagnosis was that he couldn't pull anything off of the computer.

I've had problems pulling info from the computer, because when my check engine light goes on, I can't get a reading. I pull over, make sure the light is on, and when I short the pins to get the flashing info, it goes dead. I was also told that it should give you the reading, even if the light isn't currently on because it stores the last problem in it's memory.

So before I spend a grand fixing my tranny, I want to see if it's just a bad computer.

Does anybody have one from when they swapped in a turbo or somethign? I need a computer that was definately working fine when pulled. I don't want to go to a junk yard or E-bay and grab a possibly working one.

Given the numbers mg man posted, any 91-93 n/a auto computer will work. If I were further along on my turbo swap, I'd send you mine to test your theory. But at this time I still need it to get back and forth to work.

Thanks a lot guys, and definately thanks to MG Man.

Now for the stupid question.

When that thing arrives, where the hell is the computer under the hood? I couldn't find anything that seemed like it...

Yes, I am a fledgling gearhead... That is why I need your guidance!

But seriously... Where is the computer?
