93 5.0 ??power steering switch ??

Does this car even have one and if its bad would this cause my car to idle at 1100 rpms all the time ?????

just called a local ford dealer , he didnt think so either , came back on the phone and said Ill be damned it does have a switch on it ..... I guess I will go unplug the bastage and see if the idle drops .....

Sorry, let me rephrase myself. The 93 mustang 4 cylinder has the p/s pressure switch but the 93 5.0 does not. It could in an extreme circumstance cause an idle of 1,100 rpm I suppose (not sure how the circuit works, open vs. closed) but it cannot on your car as your car does not have one. It is pin #24 on the 4 cylinder pcm and pin #24 on the 5.0 is empty.

aight thanks , im out of guesses , could the pcv being clogged affect it , running out of things to check ..... im going to pull the upper intake in a few days to check for vacuum leaks under there

Have you checked for codes? Throttle position sensor voltage? Stuck idle air control motor? Did somebody adjust the cold idle setting on the throttle body? Is the throttle blade or cable sticking? Vacuum leak could cause it too.

I vote for the IAC or a open vacuum line.

i like the vac leak idea. give more info on when it does this and how it idles otherwise. car and mods would help too.

generally when IAC's fail or get cruddy, they dont flow enough air (oscillate enough) - not too much. one reason i think it sounds like a leak (though that guess could change if we know more info about the usual idle characteristics).

ive done everything you can imagine except pull the upper to look for a possible vacuum leak under there ..... im replacing the TB and EGR plate gaskets next , ive checked all the vacuum lines everywhere else running out of options of stuff to do/check , egr was crudy even after cleaning it so i put a new one on it .....

Easy check...
Use carb cleaner around areas of possibility with engine running. Engine will speed up if the cleaner finds the leak.

reset the computer and then restart. Let the car learn new idle strategy.

done that
car will only come down to 900-950 even with idle screw out of it completely (this i really dont understand ), with IAC unplugged , thats why I am thinking its either a vacuum leak or an ECM issue , you plug the IAC back in and it goes to 1100

You should be able to stall the motor when you pull the screw in all the way.

I'm guessing you have a vacuum leak
