just curious if anyone on here that has a 87-93 w/ side exhaust and if so any pics, and how is the tone w/ side pipes, deep or just loud

when i was getting my new flows installed the other day @ my muffler shop the guy told me he could make some custom side exhaust for $40 total!! but i dont know if they will sound good or look good, so if anyone knows of any pics show me the way

thanks everyone :nice:

I have a 93 and i wanted the same thing a couple years ago... needless to say i couldnt find anything for the 87-93's, the closest year was 94. I'm sure u could get the guy to make u a custom one but it would probably just be like normal 2.5" dumps behind the front wheels. (Which is loud and obnoxious) It was a while ago that i searched tho so if anyone finds one I wouldnt be surprised by now.

im not sure as to why the 94 setup wouldnt work...chasis are the same. If it didnt directly bolt up ,i bet it would be cake to make it work.

check out spintech's side exhaust for fox body stangs... its bitchen and sounds VERY nice. the only downside is clearance with subframe ( all side exhaust have this prob). you can either buy specially designed subs from them or modify the exhaust just a tad to make it work. i am very satisfied with the way it looks and most cetainly the way it sounds :nice:

I use the side exit on both of my 88's and I love em. I use (2) 2 1/2 squared tips (like corvette) on each side welded to a y pipe then welded to the h pipe. I however dont use mufflers so it can be obnoxious :D It literally sounds like a NASCAR under WOT and a serious BB under normal driving. I have the same set up on my 88 with a 331 and with my cam its incredible. You tell me how to post a sound clip and I'll give it to ya. The only thing is it is a little loud for a daily driver and at the light people just look and roll up their windows when we are taking off  Like I said tell me the process of posting the clip and I will oblige.

You can always got to your local Roush dealer as I did and ask to look at one, then rev it up to 7000k and multiply that by 4 times and thats exactly how it sounds.

You could run a system from the midpipe and angle it straight for the sides and use a low profile muffler, but ground clearance is still an issue. I saw a SN-95 once with MAC LT's into a prochamber that headed directly out to the sides, no mufflers. Sounded and looked pretty mean.

This was my 88Gt, had spintech side exit with hooker super comp ceramic long tubes and offroad h pipe, sounded great. Someone on this site has a sound clip of it. I lost the clip, my computer died. Best sounding car I have owned.

Man I used to have your Vid but I had to format my Drive due fatal mistake on my part. I'm looking into getting the spintech setup and would like to see some more pics just to see how low the side pipes hang, I'd like them to be a little bit more in and hug the car a little more.

I had to use the spintech sub frames. I had about a half inch clearance from the sub frames. You tac weld the exhasut to snug up to the subs or use rubber undercoating in that section and snug up against the sub frames the rubber undercoating will prevent rattle.
