I have a '93 Cobra that I am planning on purchasing. I plan on going S-trim a while after. I am hoping that they didn't put the hypercraptic pistons in the cobras like they did in the gt's in 1993. Let me know.
The switch to hypers was made during the last 2 production months of 92 - so the July/Aug. production 92's also have hypers. As they said above, if you're careful with your tune, the hypers will handle boost -- just need to be really careful with the tune as they don't like detonation under boost very much.
FWIW- My buddy had a 308ci, motor with KB Hypers, stock 69 302 rods, crank, 85 302 block, R heads, R intake, XX-Trim (30psi of boost), Accel DFI tuned and it lived for a long, long time with lots of abuse...the tune was good. It actually finally squished the rods which was found when new rings and bearings were being put in.
Would I reccomend this, no way but it can be done.
Thanks fellas. I had a '92 GT with the forged internals. Just tryin' to figure out more about these '93's. A-trim sounds good. Half the price of the S and more boost than I need.
