The computer in my stock 93 died. It's labeled A9M. The car is a 5.0 5 speed LX. What is the best thing to do? Do I need another A9M? Or will an A9L work? It looks like they are quite common. Or something else? What would the difference be? I'd sure appreciate any advice. Thanks

With your t5 you can run any of the A9* computers, either manual or auto.

The A9L is pretty easy to find, but the auto computers will have more timing.
The performance gain will be slight though.

I don't think any re-pinning is needed to switch from a manual to auto, but I am not sure on that. It would depend on the year of computer and year of car.

The A9L & A9P are a one to one swap. The computer connectors are pinned the same. The A9M should be the same too.

computer types info courtsey of Steve89GT

There are a few different varieties of computers... just a few different calibrations..

Here's the #'s of most of the MAF computers that are around. A9L and A9P are the most

common.

1988 MANUAL 8LD
1988 AUTO 8LF
1989 MANUAL A9L, A9S
1989 AUTO A9P, A9T
1990-92 MANUAL A9L
1990-92 AUTO A9P
1993 MANUAL A3M
1993 AUTO C3W
1993 COBRA X3Z

The harness itself is what is different.. Most of the computers are interchangeable,

although I have never done it.
You can also use an auto computer in a manual.
