does anyone have any idea how to get those damn nuts off the top of the struts on the rear suspension, I was fighting them today and gave up, tried clamping it with vice grips from the bottom but still kept spinning.

If you dont' have access to an impact gun and you are going to replace your shocks, saw the damn tops off with a sawz-all....thats my method of choice

Grab the torch!!!!!!!

J/K, get better vice grips, maby two pairs. Use two wrenches, one to turn the nut, the other to hold the rod still, which often does not work but worth a try. There is a special socket that holds the rod still, so you can the use a wrench to turn the nut.

You can turn the nuts on the rears by holding the vice-grips and turning the nut... just hold tighter, or get better v-grips

might need a lil more elbow grease

I know there is a tool that allows you to remove the nut w/o an impact gun can't ,remember the name of it though.

Well that's good, but so the whole problem is you were trying to clamp on the rod through the boot. Well, you learned something.

Its funny how easy it is to overlook the obvious sometimes, I can build and install my own enige from the ground up but a stupid shock ties me up for 4 hours, simply amazing. I was actually trying to use an open ended wrench and grab the rod with vise grips from the top but didn't help.

You hit the nail on the head your always learning and that why I love these forums for the mustang if I can't figure it out someone on here is bound to know. Once again thanks for the help

Trial and Error!!! A big part of expereince that you can't learn from any book. I work in a shop, I have worked in autoshops for 7 years now. Lots and lots of errors. Sometimes it's not knowing how to do it, but knowing how not to do it. The tech I am aprinticed to says "It's not that I make it look so easy, it's that you make it look so hard"
