How do I get the parking brake functional? Which cables do I use and do I have to modify the handle?

It's a rear out of a MK VII/SVO in a 1993.

See http://www.mustangcentral.net/tech/brake.html for help with the emergency brake - the stock setup tends to lock up and not release properly.

See http://www.svo73mm.cjb.net/ for brake help - best Mustang brake site on the web.

Jrichker pointed you to the right place. You will need the FMS center adjustable cable and two of the 93 Cobra rear cables.

Did you use it with the Mark VII axles, or modify the brackets to use the Fox length Ranger axles? If you did use the shorter ones, or want to in the future, I modified my brackets to clear the lower control arms and the ebrake works great.

I have been to all of those sites prior to posting. Still confused as to which cables I am to use. I am using the Mark VII axles..I didn't do the "flipped disc"

Well, your tranny tunnel should have a metal bracket welded to the tunnel above the driveshaft. The two rear cables attach to it and go back to each wheel. The brake cables are specific to the 93 model cars. The 93 Cobra cables would be the best fit, but some have used the 94+ cables also.

The only potential problem I can see is that the return spring is not part of the caliper, but on the cables of the Mark VII/SVO brakes. See my 4th picture with the cable installed. You might have issues with the calipers slightly dragging if you don't use the return spring. Maybe not, but it is something you should be aware of.

Now if you had a 92 or earlier Fox, you could easily use the 86 SVO cables like I used since they are the correct length and have the return spring built in. But they do not work with the center mounted bracket in the tranny tunnel.

For a 93 with Mark VII/ SVO brakes there really is not an exact perfect cable. The 93 Cobra or 94+ with the possible addition of a return spring would be your best bet.

So since you are using the 1.25" longer axles, what wheels are you running?

I am using ROH Snypers that were originally 17x8 with 38mm offset. I have widened them inboard to 9.5" with 7.5" backspacing
