94-95 cobra

Just woundering if the 94-95 cobras are just as fast as the 96-98 4.6 cobras.

the 96 might have a slight edge power wise. the 95 will be cheaper to mod. stock for stock it would be a drivers race.

A guy here (Jakie Chan) is running a bolt on Cobra in the 12's. All in the driving and finding a good track.

dont the 96-98 cobras have 305hp? compared to our year cobras having 245?? thats quite the difference

i have seen a few 94-95's on here in the 240 rwhp range stock. they are under rated.

they should be a bit slower than the mod motors. but if your looking for upgradeablity. the 94-5 is tons better

the early 4.6 cobras are only like 305 horse, but stock for stock equal drivers the 5.0 would lose to the 32v. BTW mine dynoed 238 rwhp stock from maf to oil pan, just had exhaust, pullies, and a drop-in k&n at the time.

Stock for stock the 96-98 would woop us pretty good. Yhey run low 13's stock, as a 94-95 runs really low 14's all stock.

my brother has 96 cobra, it doesn't run anything close to low 13's stock.

Its capable though. Most 96-98's I see run 13.50-13.90's all stock but w/ a good driver they will go 13.30. Same w/ a 94-95 most go 14.40-14.80 or so but w/ a good driver they can go 14.00-14.20.

I've never seen a stock 96-98 cobra trap over 99mph at our tracks, and most 94-95 cobras trap near 96-97 stock.

Rob, what did your car trap stock?

I think it'd come down to a drivers race.

its easier to drive a 94-95, but the 96-98 will put down 25-35 more rwhp typically. although some guys try to say they put down 270rwhp which i think is bs

As far as modding is concerned, the 96-98 with 4.30-4.56 gears, longtubes, and other little stuff is a low 12 or high 11sec car on slicks in good weather which is cheaper in my opinion for the gains than the 94-95. Then if you throw a forged rotating assembly in them, you can make 600+rwhp with FI. It does seem that the stock shortblock 94-95s hold up better with FI than the stock shortblock 96-98s however.
I think the best i could get out of mine is maybe a 12.6 from what ive run on street tires and what it ran on 27" tall tires with a little more weight and higher DA.

If I remember correctly, my car did 94 or 95mph bone stock w/ 8* of timing, and I bumped it to 14* , went to 4.10's and then went 97mph.
