I have a electric fan out of a 94-95 Mustang and it finally fried my alternator, or at least that's what I think is wrong. Are these fans too much for a 3g alternator to handle? Could the motor in the fan have a small short or something?

My bad, turns out it's a stock 75 amp alternator. I don't know why I thought it was a 3g. Would a 96-99 taurus alternator work without having to redo any wiring or anything?

You can't push 130 maps through wiring designed for 65 amps. Unless you like the excitement of an under hood fire...

The wiring isn't hard to do, and it is throughly described in the 3G upgrade installation tech note
Stangnet 3G install sticky 3G Alternator Install: A How To - Mustang Forums at StangNet

OR for more details and pictures of the wiring, see

The following shows the modification of the alternator mount bracket.
Mustang Central.net 130 amp alternator upgrade

Under no circumstances connect the two 10 gauge black/orange wires to the 3G alternator. If the fuse blows in the 4 gauge wire, the two 10 gauge wires will be overloaded to the point of catching fire and burning up the wiring harness.

The secondary power ground is between the back of the intake manifold and the driver's side firewall. It is often missing or loose. It supplies ground for the alternator, A/C compressor clutch and other electrical accessories such as the gauges. Any car that has a 3G alternator needs a 4 gauge ground wire running from the block to the chassis ground where the battery pigtail ground connects.

any e fan would fry a stock alt in fairly short order. I am amazed you didnt have mad charging issues.
