i don't think so. What makes you think that it was tuned did it have a chip on it? What kind of MAF sensor was on it? Was it the factory one? What kind of sensor did you put on it factory or aftermarket? You need to atlest answer these questions before anyone can really help you, but all the other details about the car would be very helpful also such as the modifications.

the original maf sensor was opened up and the top half was missing. so i dont know if it was a factory maf sensor. but the new one i bought i got it from autozone. my mods are DSS Pro Bullet 306, Canfield heads, Edelbrock performer upper & lower intake, Edelbrock tb, BBK longtubes, Bassani mufflers, Cammed w 512 lift. pullys and lots more

When you say opened up what do you mean? Was it ported? You said the top half was missing the top half of what? The top of the electronics? It's really gonna be hard to say what is wrong here. If you can't tell what kind of maf is on there then it's gonna be hard to tell you need to put back on it. If it's some sort of aftermarket maf it would have to be replaced with the exact same type of maf and even then it might have to be retuned to run right but it should atleast be close enough to run. The problem is that without knowing exactly what was on the car and what maf the chip is tuned for it's gonna be hard to tell you what needs to be done. How do you know for sure the maf was bad?

the maf sensor was just open and it looked like they tired to fix it or something. and the entire top plastic half where it says ford on it was missing and i could see the electronic board inside the maf sensor. it looked like the stock maf sensor

i got the car runing for a few seconds with the new maf sensor but it runs like crap and it back fired and turned of after about 10 seconds of it jumping up and down the idle

The car ran ok with the old maf just real rich right! It's possible that you got a bad maf from the parts store but I don't know maybe someone else will chime in.

the thing is before i went and bought a new one. i still had the old one in and i unplugged it and the motor still ran the same and idled at 900 rpm. it does the same thing with the new one. i have it installed but not plugged in and it idles right at 900 rpm but when i hook it up it shuts off. or the idle surges up and down and back fires then shuts off.

thanks for the help bro
