Hey guys I just had my cobra taken to have codes pulled and was told that my computer would not communicate with any scanner and that I need a new computer and because it highly upgraded that the computer may need re-flashed. Where do I get this done at??

Where did they plug the scanner tool in? Under dash or under hood?

Yeah, they probably assumed your car was OBD 2 and plugged it in under the dash. the plug under the dash is a dummy. You have to plug the computer in under the hood.

What are your mods?
How long has it been cutting out?
What did you do before it started cutting out.
When was the last time it had a tune up?
What kind of plugs are you running. 5.0's don't like platiniums.
that's a good start for now.

No, whoever tried to use the plug under the dash IS a dummy! Just another confirmation on why I don't let anyone but hardcore 'stang enthusiasts touch my car!

Now now, you have to know enough about your Mustang to know that the plug under the dash isn't hooked up. How many folks think we have a 4.6 mod motor under our hood? Too many, way too many.

Only the 94-95 GT & Cobra's have the 5.0 and still have the older OBDI plugs in the engine compartment. 94-98 V6 and the 96-98 V8's all use the OBDII plug under the dash.

It's all a part of educating yourself. We know this fact because we love the cars and enjoy owning them. They SHOULD know it because these expensive scanning tools come with pretty thorough instructions on which ports to use on which cars.

The Snap-On my brother has at his shop has a very informative manual with it, it tells you where to plug these things in at. Like I said, if you don't know what you're doing, then stay the hell away from my car! lol

Manual? we don't need to read no stinkin' manual!

Absolutely agree, It all depends on where MurderedCobra went to scan for codes. If he went to an auto parts store, those guys don't get paid enough to care. If it was a mechanic that got paid to check codes, then he better damn well know how to read a manual and read codes the right way. In that case, I would ask for a refund on that $$$$ 'cause the mechanic didn't do his homework first. Then run far away, that mechanic will break more than they fix.

If you got no codes, there's still an issue. You should at least get 111's.
