...is this the same block as my 1993 Stang?

My car runs fine now, but it is mostly stock. I can pick up the 94 F-150 Long Block for free because the thrust bearing is toast, probably due to the automatic transmission (he said it had problems). I want to build my first motor, and I think it would be a good idea to build this motor while still driving my car. All I am really looking for is the block, anything else usable on the motor would be a bonus. I will probably also take the transmission off his hands while I am at it, if the engine will work in the Mustang. Thanks in advance for your help.

I can't remember for sure what the firing order is on them. But if the firing order is the same it will work no probablem. If it has the old firing order the block will have to be converted over to roller. The oil pans will be different. The trucks have pretty much the same lower intake as a holley systemax. So you could use it if you can find a holley upper. Other than that there are the same motor.

the f150 motor is non-ho, and non-roller, so it would need converting. the heads are the same e7 castings as 87+ mustangs, and as mentioned the holley upper intake will bolt to the truck lower and make a bit more power than a stock ho intake.

It doesn't matter if it's not a roller engine right now; it's still a roller-ready block.

It doesn't matter that the engine in a non-H.O. firing order if he is just looking for a block. The firing order is dictated by the cam. I assume that he is planning a build while he can still drive his Mustang so I assume he will buy a 5.0 cam for the engine. As far as the block being a non-roller block just because it is non-H.O. is incorrect. A 94 truck 5.0l will be a roller cam with hydraulic roller lifters engine. As 88mouse stated, the oil pan is different and the lower intake is similar to the Holley Systemax. You'll at least get another block to start your build with and the best part is its free.

I appreciate the information. All I am really looking for is to tear this thing down to the block and start over from scratch. I don't want to build anything too radical, just a daily driver, with AC, and some getty up. Am I reading Chuckman's post right, the head castings on this motor will be the same as on my 93?
